Larry Iannotti
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW, PhD
About Me
I am a social work psychotherapist with an extensive background in issues of sexuality, illness, disability, and trauma. My practice is based in New York city where I work with adults, both individually and as couples. In addition to Somatic Experiencing, I am also trained in Hypnotherapy and Inner Relationship Focusing.
My goal is always to be with “what is” and help my clients to strengthen their ability for acceptance, self-compassion, curiosity and growth. When we feel stuck or blocked or overwhelmed, it is often necessary to have another human there with us to support us, reflect our experience, and challenge us to approach ourselves with fresh eyes.
How I Work
I believe that providing a body-based foundation to therapeutic work allows for a more meaningful process of internal growth and best supports people’s inherent capacity for increased resiliency and healing. Somatic work creates the foundation for our capacity to be with the most difficult experiences and leads to a fuller sense of vitality. I utilize an extensive range of tools and interventions from body psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, inner-relationship focusing, and emotionally focused therapy models. I have found that these methods, when practiced within a relationally informed and attachment-based treatment relationship, leads to a greater and long-lasting sense of wellness.
